As we know, obesity tend to produce non-contagious illness as cardiovascular ones, diabetes and some cancers, and since the pandemic has started, the scientists has notice that it is associated with a higher severity and mortality in Covid-19 patients. In fact, the chronic inflammation, the dysregulation of the immune system, the oxidative stress and other specific physiological consequences of obesity make it a determinative factor for Covid-19 patients.
In Argentina, the 36,3% of the people over 18 is obese, which, considering that it is different from only “overweight”, is a really high rate. So, the resolution published on the Official Bulletin on September 25th replaces the article number 3° of the N°627/2020 published in March, and incorporates the people with obesity in one of the highest risk group for Covid-19.
