QUINO'S SAD FAREWELL
Joaquín Salvador Lavado Tejón, known under the nickname Quino, was a graphic humorist born in Guaymallen, Mendoza.
Quino was the great Argentine cartoonist, creator of the beloved character Mafalda and of many other brilliant comics. Its distinctive mark is the shrewd, intelligent and always current social criticism, with which it has been charming children and adults around the world for decades.
Mafalda was his most famous comic strip. Mafalda is the iconic character of Quino and a true worldwide phenomenon to this day, despite the fact that her comics were only published from 1964 to 1973. Through the apparently innocent 6-year-old girl, her family and her friends Susanita , Manolito, Felipe, Miguelito and Libertad, the cartoonist reflects on politics, the economy and society in general, always with a touch of humor. Little Mafalda loves the Beatles, democracy, children's rights, reading, peace and pancakes. He hates James Bond, arms, war and soup. And dreams of "fixing" the world.
Mafalda was taken to more than 30 countries and became the face of various advertising campaigns, postcards and stamps. In addition, it has been honored in dozens of exhibitions in Argentina and abroad. Its validity is a great recognition of the quality of Quino's work and the charisma of the characters he created, and it is also a sign that the world has not changed so much since then.
The 30th of September, Quino passed away with 88 years old because some illness about the age.
