Drug-related deaths reached an alarming number in 2019 and 2020
Sadly, the drug-related crisis has been rapidly worsening throughout the years and experts are finding it extremely difficult to stop this delicate and tragic situation. Particularly in England and Wales, the numbers have hit a record and the female situation has proven to be much more serious, with a higher mortality than men.
What is thought to be the reason for this difference is that women have difficulty in finding help as drug services are mainly dominated by men. What is more, if these women are mothers, they also fear that when admitting their addiction, the social services might take their children away from them.
