Environment vs. Society: a race against time
Over the last few decades society´s noxious industrial activities have been causing environmental imbalance, such as biodiversity´s loss and increasing numbers of global warming effects. Firstly, commercial farmers are being blamed for the fires along the Paraná River and the Amazon, due to the clearing vegetation during the annual dry season to grow crops for export, causing the destruction of thousands of acres of wetlands. Additionally, the melting of Greenland and Antartica ice sheets have raised the global sea level by 1.8cm since the 1990s, and are matching the IPCC's worst-case climate warming scenarios. Alternatively, livestock farming has a vast environmental footprint (it contributes 18% of human produced greenhouse gas emissions worldwide), as well as the fast fashion industry, which produces 10% of global CO2 emissions every year and uses 1.5 trillion litres of water annually. However, governments are still looking for an efficient course of action, yet the environment is rapidly dying.
