Javier is a Global Strategic Executive who successfully designed and implemented turnaround and growth plans on four continents, persuading executive leadership to approve drastic changes, refocusing marketing to drive sales and profit growth.
Talking about his personal life, he lives in Krakow, a city of Poland. He told us that he left Argentina when he was 5 years old with his parents to USA for 2 years. Then returning to his native country was very difficult. So he decided, as the years went by, to work and live in another country.
The second time he had the chance to leave the country was in 1998, when he was working for craft/Mondelez, with his family. They went to the city of New Jersey, in the United States. After that in 2001 he returned to Argentina for a few months before going back to Sydney, Australia. Thereupon Australia he spent a few months in London previous to Czech Republic. In 2016 he had the opportunity to move to Poland. He told us that one of the hardest things about moving too much is the language, highlighting that Polish is really difficult. He also mentioned, being already at a retirement age from his job, that he might plan to move one last time to another country, which could be Spain or Portugal.
Nowadays, as we already said, he lives in Krakow with her wife and his youngest son, the older ones live in London at the moment.
We asked him what he missed the most about Argentina, he replied friends and food, and national candies such as dulce de leche and alfajores. But most importantly, his family.
At the moment he is the General Manager at Mars Inc. A company that produces some of the world's most known brands such as M&M's, Dove, Snickers, Royal Canin, and more. Also, it has a big importance in pets health and nutrition industry and providing well known services businesses like BluePearl and Pet Partners. However, in a pandemic context, there was an increase in demand of the first needed products, although in the least relevant there was a decrease in demand.
In conclusion, this interview gave us a detailed idea about the development of an enterpriser's career in the modern world. With this experience we understood the importance of mastering different languages in order to improve our career prospects in foreign countries. All in all, we could say that talking with Javier gave us a clear picture of what is like to leave your home country in pursue of a succesful career somewhere else, which is a very relevant subject among today's youth.
