QUARANTINE SCENE: MARKETS IN BUENOS AIRES

According to the analysis of Fecoba (Federación de Comercio e Industria de la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires), near the 20% of the shops in Capital closed down permanently since March 20th. The reason isn’t only quarantine but also the fact that they don’t know how much time it will last, so they can’t plan a strategy to survive and they still have to pay fixed costs. Furthermore, the markets that were able to open their doors billed around the 25% and 30% from the same period of last year. On the other hand, expectations aren’t high neither. The IAE Business School (Austral University) did a studio of 120 firms in which the 84% of them said they were expecting their sales to decrease. The studio also shows that the 63% of the companies took only short-term decisions without looking their long-term impact.
